I was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what types of terrain the run was on? Is it muddy and slippery? Rocky? Nice, smooth trail? Sand?

I was wondering if trail running shoes with agressive lugs/studs might provide a better/good grip for the trails we'll be on?

Thanks

HI Kip

I wear running flats. Others wear trail shoes. What to expect: The trail is an old bench trail, some parts of the trail are open trail amongst the forest canopy mixed sandy, muddy, stones tend to be partially buried rocks that disperse the whole length of the trail. Beware they are slippery in the morning. Roots criss cross the trail, there a numerous hills, rollers and there is the mandatory beach run with a 3 miles gravel road finish. Shoe choice comes down to how agile you are on the trail and what you are accoustmed running trail on.  Its like one long hash.

Day two and the trail is less defined but well marked by the team. Lugged shoes would help on the steep ascent up the Devils Stair case and the long descent to the road.

Oh and make sure the sole of your shoe is really good order. Many a good man has lost thier 'sole' to these trails.
